SYNOPSIS:
My Favorite Card Tricks collects fifteen of Harry Lorayne’s favored effects and routines using ordinary playing cards. The material was selected for practicality: the routines can generally be performed with a borrowed or shuffled deck, under informal conditions, and without relying heavily on specialized props. Only a small portion uses the conventional “select a card” opening, giving the collection more variety than a typical assortment of card locations.
The book includes sandwich effects, coincidences, locations, reversals, four-of-a-kind productions, transpositions, pseudo-memory demonstrations, and Lorayne’s impromptu handling of Out of This World. Notable entries include One-Eyed Jack Sandwich, Color Coincidence, Out of My Control, Interlaced Location, Any Four of a Kind, the two Transposition Breakthrough routines, and Pseudo Memory Nos. 1 and 2. Lorayne also adds “Afterthoughts” following many explanations, supplying refinements, alternatives, and additional performance ideas.
